MERCURY IN CAPRICORN RETROGRADE 13th December 2023

Mercury has just moved into Capricorn a few days ago, and already goes Retrograde today. ⁣

Sure, we all heard about the effects of Mercury retrograde, which are also catastrophized quite a bit in social media and even by some astrologers: ⁣

Beware of phones breaking down, laptops crashing, traffic chaos and by no means should you sign any documents! It could seem like this is the season to annoy us all. But only if you let it and don’t look deeper into the meaning of Mercury retrograde.⁣

The lesson of Mercury retrograde is NOT to teach us to do regular data back-ups of our laptops (although that could be useful anyway). It is a lesson in taking the time to reflect, reconnect, review, and revise. ⁣

When a planet goes retrograde, it means the planetary quality is internalized for that period of time. The planet seemingly travels backwards on its journey through the skies.⁣

With Mercury being about how we communicate, receive and process any kind of information (speaking, writing, learning), the retrogradation is the natural phase in the cycle where the thought process is internalized and reflective. We are asked to listen to our inner voice instead of all the voices on the outside that bombard us daily.⁣

Mercury is currently in Capricorn, which means we are filtering communication and thought processes through the lens of Cardinal Earth. ⁣

As a cardinal sign, Capricorn is a practical initiator of things, in this case of communication. ⁣

So take this retrograde period to reflect on what conversations you might need to start? Is there any real talk that's overdue? Any constructive or creative thoughts that need to be poured out into doing soon? Maybe there are completely new ways of thinking that come from this reflective time. ⁣

On the other hand, with the Capricorn filter, we might focus too much on the practicalities and directing and organizing - instead of a wholesome communication. The cardinal earth filter could hinder us from making those connections because we are too focused on telling others what to do. Leaving no room to appreciate the other, or dismissing their feelings in favor of getting stuff done. ⁣

Once Mercury goes direct on January 1, it is time to take what you learned in the previous weeks and construct amazing things from your mind. ⁣
